Fishing Boat's Special Delivery for Chefs

It appeared on the Tyne like a vision from a bygone era harking back to the days when fishing boats regularly trawled the depths of the river.

But Kevin Henderson's fishing vessel did not make the fantastic voyage beneath the Gateshead Millennium Bridge to fish ( he was delivering a fresh catch straight from the North Sea to an army of chefs patiently waiting on the Quayside.

The fish will now be used to create traditional Good Friday fish dishes at restaurants throughout Newcastle and Gateshead to promote Eat! ( the area's first festival of food and drink, which officially launches today. [Fri]

The unique festival has been organised by the NewcastleGateshead Initiative to showcase the best of the region's food produce and culinary delights from its shops, restaurants and hotels. Events lined up for Eat! include a five-course dinner at the Discovery Museum, Newcastle, featuring local and international foods that everyone should try at least once, an afternoon tea party, and a host of mouth-watering activities at Jesmond Dene House Hotel, Newcastle. …
