EWC to Unveil New Offense at Scrimmage; the Tigers' Spread Option Will Be on Display This Afternoon

Kevin Clark is hoping not only for an improvement, but a complete turnaround.

A season after Edward Waters College had one of the worst offenses in the country (9.3 points per game), Clark is hoping that a spread offense will transform the Tigers offense from low-caliber to high-powered.

Last season, EWC scored fewer than 14 points seven times and was shut out three times. The team's lone win was a 7-2 victory over Concordia, and head coach Lamont Massie was fired after the season.

Former Florida A&M offensive coordinator Jimmy Joe is one of four new coaches at the Northside college (three are on the offensive side) and will install a spread-option offense that Clark hopes will confuse defenses and score points.

Fans can get their first look at EWC's new offense at 1 p.m. today during the Purple and Orange game at the Jaguars practice field adjacent to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.
