Marlon Is Not Ready to Be King for Cup Day

WATFORD manager Aidy Boothroyd today rejected a plea by Marlon King to make a

fairytale return from long-term injury in Saturdays FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United.

King has been out since mid-October with a serious knee injury that required surgery and the absence of the clubs star striker has been cited by Boothroyd as a principal reason why his side are bottom of the Premiership.

Yesterday, Kings appearance in the pre-match warm-up against Portsmouth earned as big a cheer from the Vicarage Road faithful as that which greeted each of the goals that earned Watford only their fourth win ofthe season.

But, delighted as he was by the shock 4-2 victory over a team who themselves were surprise winners against table leaders United on Saturday, Boothroyd revealed: Marlon wont play at Villa Park. He wants to play and I might have to put him in a straitjacket to keep him down.

But I will only play him when its right for him and when his knee tells him its right to return. …
