Those in the market for the ultimate sports car face tough choices, although the fact that it will be a Ferrari is a foregone conclusion.

If you choose the F430, the dilemma is whether to go for the coupe or roadster and whether to opt for the standard or F1 version.

They both get a five-star rating from What Car? ahead of the four-star rated rival Porsche 911 and Lamborghini Gallardo.

The new F430 is just about as close as you can get to the sort of driving experiences that F1 racer Kimi Raikkonen now enjoys so much at weekends.

Crammed with Formula One technology, the F430 shares much with the older car but differs in several important ways to make the driving experience even more thrilling.
