Former Newcastle captain Richard Juul is getting one of his engines adapted to suit his fellow Dane Jonas Raun as part of a new agreement to help the 17-year-old settle in with the Warburtons Diamonds, writes ANDREW DALBY.

Raun made a bright start at Newcastle Stadium last month but struggled over the Easter weekend and hopes to bounce back in tomorrow's Premier Trophy meeting at home to Edinburgh (6.30pm start).

Juul, 36, still hopes to find a team place himself this season, but while he awaits any vacancies he's happy to remember his own arrival in this country with the Diamonds in 1991 and guide the teenager through his first full season in British speedway.

Raun's been using Jawa machinery so far, but Juul's sent a GM engine to the tuning business of ex-Sheffield skipper Sean Wilson and it might even be ready for tomorrow's clash with the Monarchs.

Newcastle co-promoter and team manager George English said: "Jonas has shown us already that he's an excellent prospect but we have to remember he's still learning a lot and both Dickie and Sean can offer him useful advice. …
