KATE MIDDLETON'S friends hit out today at Prince William's partying which they said led to the couple breaking up. One said Kate - while anxious not to make demands on the future king - asked him to "explain himself;assure her that they had a future together". pretty silly girls are frankly insulting to Kate." William, 24, has been linked with a number of women in the past few weeks. He took student Lisa Agar, 19, back to his barracks for a nightcap after meeting her at a club in Bournemouth. He was also photographed groping Brazilian student Ana Ferreira at another club in the town.

He reportedly celebrated the end of his relationship with Miss Middleton by running up a [pounds sterling]800 drinks bill at the Mahiki nightclub in Mayfair on Saturday.

The source went on: "She has stuck by him, and supported him always.

Unfortunately he has not repaid the compliment." Another friend said: "Kate is made of sterner stuff. She is gorgeous, great fun and a catch for anyone.

It is his loss."

It emerged today that Kate, 25, told friends at a dinner on Thursday: " It ' s finally over between us."

She said she would not elaborate because she and William had made a pact never to discuss their four-year relationship.

Her vow of silence denies her potential earnings running into millions. A close source said: "Kate is not that kind of girl - she has too much self respect to dish the dirt on anyone. She is a decent person."

Firsthand descriptions of Kate ' s demeanour at the dinner make clear that, although William was marking his freedom by going out drinking in nightclubs, Kate was not sitting at home feeling sorry for herself. A source said: "She was cool and quite relaxed when she told everyone. They were all a little surprised by how unemotional she was. …
