Football Club Hits Its Goal at Last

Stars of the future will have a permanent ground to play at after their football club reached a pounds 350,000 fundraising target.

Corbridge United Junior Football Club has raised the cash through various activities and grants, including one for pounds 200,000 from the Football Foundation.

The development will be at Tynedale Rugby Club, in Corbridge, with the new facilities built on to the existing building.

Football club secretary Mike Robinson said: "This is absolutely massive for the community. It will be a fantastic facility for the youngsters and people of Corbridge.

"We don't operate just to provide competitive teams, we operate to provide access to the game for kids of all abilities."

Paul Thorogood, chief executive of the Football Foundation said: "We warmly congratulate Corbridge United Juniors and the Northumberland FA for their hard work in securing this award.

"I am delighted that Football Foundation investment is opening up access to sport in Corbridge and encourage other organisations in the region to apply to us. …
