Middlesbrough were one of the clubs lucky enough to field a Newcastle Falcons Easter Camp last week.

The camp featured three days' coaching input from Kingston Park stars, and places were quickly snapped up by 70 rugby mad youngsters.

The Boro event was led by Falcons' sevens expert Ross Batty, supported by Sean Tomes and Middlesbrough's Lee Rust.

About one third of the players were from local clubs ( Darlington, Guisborough, Seaton Carew, Acklam and Middlesbrough - with the remainder from local schools.

The over-riding theme of it all was fun and there was bags of that on offer with the coaches bringing the best out of their charges with well thought out drills and exercises.

BILLINGHAM Under-13s celebrated Easter with a massive 43-14 win over Seaton Carew.

Seaton got their first points in early, with a ball fielded by Billingham turned into possession, and a Seaton player going in almost unopposed to score with a try under the posts.

The Billingham response was emphatic - this would be almost the only time Seaton were in their half other than kick-offs.

Billingham's first try was scored by John Devine taking the opposition on the outside and running in from 40 metres to score under the posts.

From the re-start Billingham pressed again, being dominant in both the backs and forwards, Robbie Lavender working well in the loose, ripping ball out of mauls.

Billingham's second try came from a run by flanker Jack Chapman who was stopped on a run. Marcus Sudren picked up the loose ball and ran crossfield to score. Tom Doherty managed a fine conversion.

It now all seemed one-way traffic and soon Billingham were in again and Ben McWilliams went over from three yards, Tom Doherty again converting. Half time score 19-7.

The second half took on a repeat of the first with Jack Chapman soon scoring. Seaton defended bravely, but against a tide of Billingham attacks it was always just a matter of time before another try was scored, and, indeed, Sudren went over from short range again in the corner.

Then came a crossfield kick from Sudren fielded by Josh Gibson, who burst away to score under the posts with Doherty converting.

The final score came from Robbie Lavender, again robbing a Seaton player of the ball, then off-loading to Sudren, who ran in, with Doherty getting his fourth conversion.

Seaton grabbed a consolation try right at the end.

Man of the match was Robbie Lavender.

GUISBOROUGH Under-11s played their last league game of the season at Malton and Norton RUFC.

On a very hard ground and a hot day, Guisborough dominated the first game and won 10-0 with tries from Rowan Tuttle and Josh Bainbridge.

The second game was a closer match with Guisborough holding on for a 15-10 victory with tries from Will Muir, Adam Henderson and Chris Tasker. …
