Ex-Pat Bruce Must Demolish His Spanish Dream Home

North-East ex-pat Bruce Gauntlett is set to be left penniless and homeless after being ordered to demolish his luxury Spanish villa.

The 63-year-old has lost a three-year planning battle to save his home and the authorities have now ordered him to remove the pounds 250,000 dream home brick by brick.

Local government officials on the Costa Blanca have also frozen the retired engineer's bank account and warned him that if the property is not demolished in two weeks, pounds 2,000 will be taken from his savings every month until it is flattened.

Mr Gauntlett sold his home in West Moor, North Tyneside, to move to the Costa Blanca and build a dream home and live in the sunshine.

He spent his savings building the luxury villa from scratch, but he has now been given just 30 days to demolish it.
