Fourteen people have appeared before a judge in connection with a series of drug raids led by Cleveland Police.

They were brought before Teesside Crown Court yesterday charged with conspiracy to supply crack cocaine.

The 14 were arrested as part of a massive police operation stretching from Chester-le-Street in the North to London in the South.

More than 400 officers took part in last month's nationwide drug crackdown led by Cleveland Police.

It included hitting 14 homes in the North-east, involving about 240 officers backed up by dog units and helicopters.

Meanwhile 65 Cleveland officers went to London to join 100 Met officers in raiding nine houses in the Ilford and Hackney areas.

The arrested men appeared before Judge David Bryant sitting at Teesside Crown Court.

The first seven to appear in the dock were Neisha Hemmings, 25, of Oxford, Marcus Steadman, 28, of no fixed abode, Albert Thoms, 30, of Hornsey, London, Claudine Neil, 37, of London, Wycliffe Clarke, 36, of London, Stephen Alcide, 45, of Warwick Grove, London, and Sushana Young, 23, of Wolverhampton. …
