NO sooner does one Tottenham defender return following a lengthy absence than another is ruled out.

Anthony Gardner made his first appearanceafter recovering from a fractured leg when he came on as a substitute for Ricardo Rocha at Charlton on Monday night.

The Portuguese picked up an ankle injury and is likely to miss tomorrow nights Premiership clash against Blackburn, with Spurs looking for the win that would guarantee a UEFA Cup place next season.

Spurs have been unable to field a settled defence at any time this season.

Ledley King only recently returned after foot injuries and Benoit Assou-Ekotto is back in training after a knee injury. But full-back Paul Stalteri and Lee Young-Pyo are likely to miss the rest of the season with knee problems.

Meanwhile, Blackburn midfielder David Dunn remains doubtful with a thigh injury. Dunn missed last weekends victory at Newcastle and manager Mark Hughes said: He has a 50-50 chance.Zura Khizanishvili is again ruled out because of a knee problem alongside long-term absentees Robbie Savage and Steven Reid. …
