THREE HABITAT HOMES COMPLETED

Clay County's Habitat for Humanity recently celebrated the completion of three homes on Forbes Street in Green Cove Springs.

Navy Patrol Squadron 30 of Jacksonville Naval Air Station provided more than 200 volunteers and 3,000 hours toward construction.

LICENSE OFFICES EXTEND HOURS

Beginning Monday, driver's license offices statewide will be open five days a week.

Hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Most offices now are open Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS

The Clay County Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2007 recipients of its scholarship program, which this year will benefit five students.

The program was created in 1991 to recognize academically talented Clay County high school seniors and provide financial assistance for their college-level studies. One of the 2007 scholarships is for $1,000; four are at the $500 level.

The top award went to Heather Catron of Orange Park High School. The $500 awards went to Brett Broderick of Fleming Island High, Sarah Dittman of Orange Park High, and Michele McDonald and Amanda Ward, both of Ridgeview High.

Also, the chamber manages the scholarship program of the Clay County Bar Association, which sets aside $1,000 for a college-bound local high school senior planning to pursue a degree in law or business.

This year's recipient of the Bar Association Scholarship is Kelly Ngo of Fleming Island High, who plans to major in law and political science at the University of Florida.
