Pounds 1m Pizza the Action with New Restaurant

Two brothers-in-law are hoping to cook up a storm with a new pounds 1m restaurant in Northumberland.

Paul Bernardelli and Fabrizio Saba have already made their mark in Newcastle with two of the city's best known Italian eateries. Fabrizio opened Sabatini's on Newcastle's Quayside in 1993 and Paul has run the Prima pizzeria on Dean Street since 1998.

And now they are blending their culinary and business skills together with the launch of a 200-seater restaurant in Ponteland, which they plan to open in September.

The 7,500sq ft 'family style' restaurant will be sited above the Sainsbury's store on a site on Bell Villas on the main route through the town. The supermarket and its surrounding area is currently undergoing a pounds 17m revamp.

Fabrizio said: "Living in Ponteland, I noticed a niche in the market for an Italian restaurant large enough to cater for everyone. We have designed the restaurant to have different areas to accommodate large parties, families or intimate evenings for two. …
