Jet-Ski Man Fined [Pounds Sterling]523 over Girl's Death

A CYPRIOT man has escaped with a [pounds sterling]523 fine over the death of a British girl on a jet-ski he had hired out illegally.

Hannah Sutton, 16, was killed at Pissouri, Cyprus, in 2005 when her boyfriend James Dudleycrashed into her on a jet-ski he too had rented illegally.

Hannah, from Alderley Edge, Cheshire, died from massive head injuries.

Aristos Ioannou, 30, was today fined [pounds sterling]523 at Limassol district court for allowing Hannah and James, who was also 16 at the time, to hire the jet-skis while the British pair were under the legal age of 18. He had pleaded not guilty.

His father Christakis Ioannou, 46, with whom he still runs Chris Watersports on the beach at Pissouri, was cleared of the same offence.

The younger man had failed to ask for passports or check the ages of James and Hannah when they hired the machines.

After the accident James, from Colwyn Bay, North Wales, was briefly jailed but released after admitting causing her death. …
