Vigo WI:

Barley Mow Village Hall, 3rd Wednesday of month. A visit from the Wine Club on 20th June. New members very welcome.

Woodlands Park WI:

Woodlands Park WI met on April 26th 2007. Mrs J Eastern-Taylor gave a report on the spring council meeting. Mrs Bibby-Wilson talked about "Northumbria Identity" with songs and CDs. She played a folk tune called Peacock's march on the Northumbrian pipes and read poems in dialect. Mrs Bibby-Wilson talked also about dances, jigs, rants and sword dancing, ending with a demonstration of clog dancing.

We met again on May 24 2007 for our AGM. The financial report and committee's annual report were voted on and accepted. Mrs Gordon then read the president's address. Mrs J McLean presented the one resolution, that the government should prevent the closures of community hospitals. After a short discussion this was agreed.

Mrs E Patterson retired from the committee, Mrs Y Moore joined the committee and Mrs V Grigsby was re-elected as president.

Hepscott WI:

The Inaugural Meeting, Tuesday, May 15 was the date of the newly reformed Hepscott WI, 29 ladies arrived at Hepscott Parish Hall as well as two WI officials. Our thanks to Brenda Houlison and Kathleen Jones. We enjoyed a witty and interesting talk from our first speaker, Mrs Rosie Ross. Our president, Caroline Reid, read a letter from NFWI chair, Fay Mansell, which welcomed Hepscott to the WI.

Western Tyneside WI:

Western WI held its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 8th May, 2007. Members were pleased to welcome Tyneside Federation Chairman, Jenny McClean, who discussed this years resolution ( to stop the closure of community hospitals. Members voted in favour. Dorella Addinall was voted in again as President of Western WI and Norma Sturman is to become a new member of the committee. …
