IN a recent article I read that children were not being given the freedom to play out unsupervised with their friends because of parent fears over their safety.

Well, I suggest they visit the Greenstones Estate in Redcar where gangs of tiny terrors - some as young as three - are left rampaging unsupervised for hours on end!

When the Greenstones Estate (positioned at the end of Redcar Lane) was completed back in 2001 it was hailed as one of the most well respected and peaceful areas to live.

But having resided there for many years, I would have to disagree.

With many properties now fetching the pounds 400,000 mark this is not an estate to be living in if you are looking for a quiet, child-free zone.

Many closes fill this estate where literally dozens of children are free to rampage totally unsupervised.

Most disturbing are gangs of very young children aged three to eight years, left to their own devices; vandalising trees, running on people's driveways, booting footballs at cars and windows, littering, uprooting bushes and otherwise causing all manners of disarray. …
