Campbell settles lawsuit with terrorised assistant NAOMI CAMPBELL, pictured, has settled a lawsuit with a former assistant who accused the model of terrorising her on three continents. Amanda Brack, 21, of Florida, started working for Streatham-born Campbell, 37, in February 2005. According to her complaint, Campbell slapped her in the face and hit her with her BlackBerry in Brazil after luggage was left behind, ripped up her passport in Morocco and pushed her around in her New York flat. The settlements terms were not revealed.

Shake-up to power bills planned A RADICAL new way for families to pay their fuel and power bills is being planned. Instead of householders paying quarterly bills based on the units of electricity or gas consumed, they will sign up to long-term deals similar to mobile phone contracts. Just asmobile users get a free handset as part of their deals, homeowners will be able to claim free cavity wall insulation or roof lagging. The aim is to make it profitable for power firms to persuade customers to be more energy-efficient.

Hard times for Dickens comedian A COMIC working at Britains newest theme park has been sacked after telling rude jokes. Chris Walledge, 60, was forced to resign as a music-hall performer at Dickens World in Chatham, Kent, because his postcard humour was inappropriate. Mr Walledge, from Rochester, was employed to sing, tell jokes and recount Dickensian history. He said: Ive been telling this joke for 20 years and Ive never once had a complaint. I was careful to tell it in a way children wouldnt understand.

Heritage blow to Darwins home

A BID to make Darwins Kent home and workplace a World Heritage Site has been withdrawn. Darwin at Downe was submitted to Unesco as Britains nomination in January last year. The proposed site covers about four square miles of countryside, including rural villages on the North Downs. …
