A LOVING mum who put everything on hold to help her little girl battle leukaemia has been praised by her family.

Heather Robinson's world was turned upside down in January last year when her four-year-old daughter Anna was diagnosed with the aggressive cancer following a short illness.

At the time Heather was in her second year of training to become a registered general nurse which, along with everything else, had to be put on hold.

Heather, 29, of Birtley Avenue, Acklam, said: "You don't have a choice. You don't think about it. If it was anyone's son or daughter they would do the same."

At one point in her battle against the leukaemia Anna was so weak she could not open her eyes.

But the youngster fought on and is now in the second, less intensive, stage of chemotherapy. It is hoped that maintenance chemotherapy will be completed in January next year and Anna can get on with the rest of her life.

And with Anna on the road to recovery, Heather has now gained her nursing diploma. …
