AS A follow-up to the successful 60th Birthday Party held at Shepherds Dene in June 2006, staff and trustees are holding an Open Afternoon on Sunday, July 1. There will be a jazz band and a chance to learn and experience the labyrinth, plus an exhibition of Shepherds Dene, Past, Present and Future. Ryton Photographic Society will be exhibiting a selection of photos as part of an ongoing Arts Programme at Shepherds Dene. If you need a time of quiet you will be able to visit the chapel situated within the house.. For the children a bouncy castle will provide energetic fun and they will also be able to take part in a nature treasure trail. A tree saplings stall in keeping with 'plant a tree' helping the environment and off-setting our carbon footprint. Tea, coffee, cake, scones and biscuits will be available to purchase along with ice cream and the bar will be open. The afternoon will begin at 2pm and a Taize-style service will be held at 4.30 bringing the afternoon to a close at 5pm. …
