David Toms shot a 5-under-par 65 on Friday to move into a tie for the second-round lead at a blustery and rainy Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn.

Toms, who has five top-10 finishes this year, shares the lead at 8 under with journeyman Jay Williamson, who fired a 66 for the second consecutive day while playing in just his second PGA Tour event of the year.

Rain delayed play briefly for the second consecutive day.

First-round leader Hunter Mahan followed his 62 with a 1-over 71, falling to 7 under.

Olin Browne, the 1998 event champion, finished at 3 under for the day and is two strokes off the lead. Browne, who started on the back nine, bogeyed his first two holes on the day but eagled his next two - his first two eagles of the year.

Fred Funk shot a 65 and is tied for seventh, three strokes behind the leaders. Fellow Ponte Vedra Beach resident Vijay Singh shot a 71 and is 1 under for the tournament, placing him in a tie for 34th.

The course wasn't as kind to Masters champ Zach Johnson, who shot a 74 and will miss the cut.

Defending event champion J.J. Henry also is one of the 79 players to make it to the weekend, slipping in at the cut line of 1 over.

Champions Tour: Tom Watson weathered two rain delays to shoot a 7-under 65 in the first round of The Bank of America Championship in Concord, Mass.

Two-time runner up Tom Purtzer is one stroke back at Nashawtuc Country Club.

John Jacobs is third at 5 under, and two-time winner Larry Nelson is among seven players tied for fourth and three strokes off the lead.

LPGA Tour: Rookie In-Kyung Kim shot a 5-under 67 to join fellow South Korean Mi Hyun Kim atop the leaderboard after two rounds of the Wegmans LPGA in Pittsford, N.Y.

Both of them moved to 7-under 137, two ahead of Angela Stanford (69).
