Nighttime Shooting Kills 1, Injures 1; the Man Died after Being Shot outside a House in Murray Hill

A man was killed and a woman was wounded by gunfire Saturday night outside a house in Murray Hill.

There was a gathering at the house in the 3000 block of Plum Street when shooting started around 11:30 p.m., said Lt. T.C. Davis of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

A man wounded at the house drove to the corner of South McDuff Avenue, then left the road and later died, police said.

A woman injured in the shooting was taken to Shands Jacksonville.

Police had not released the shooting victims' names Sunday.

A neighborhood resident, George Bean, said he heard about six gunshots.

He said the man who drove to the corner had been shot repeatedly.

LIGHTNING SPARKS HOUSE FIRE

Lightning started a small fire at a house in Arlington as storms moved across Jacksonville on Sunday, a fire department spokesman said. Damage to the house in the 1300 block of Grandview Drive was limited, said Lt. Mike Peery.

POLICE CAR, FOOT CHASE ENDS WITH MAN'S ARREST

A 50-year-old Lake City man was arrested on multiple charges Saturday about 11:30 p.m. after being chased by police.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Tracy Hisler-Pace, with assistance from Columbia County Sheriff's Office Sgt. James R. Coonce, provided the following narrative:

Darryl Robert Addy was driving through downtown Lake City in a 1998 Chevrolet truck when he refused to stop for a Lake City police officer.

Instead, he took off at high speed with Lake City police, Columbia County sheriff's deputies and eventually Florida Highway Patrol troopers in pursuit.

At the intersection of Birley Road and Thompson Street, the truck, while attempting to change directions and elude pursuers, struck two Columbia County Sheriff's Office vehicles.

The pursuit then continued, with the truck turning onto UpChurch Avenue and fleeing north until the road dead-ended at a guardrail. The truck then skidded off the road and into several small trees and a fence post.

After backing into another of the pursuing police cars, Addy fled on foot into the woods, with officers in pursuit. …
