Wrestling Hall Will Welcome Fairfax

Pat Fairfax will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame on Saturday for his 33 years of service as one of Florida's top high school referees.

"It's very difficult to explain what it means to get inducted, let alone even be nominated" Fairfax said. "I was nominated by the Florida Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, and the board reviewed my nominated and said yes."

Fairfax has spent the last 28 years in Jacksonville, officiating FHSAA-sanctioned matches, but he's best known for his contributions outside the gym. His long list of good deeds and charitable works includes donating shoes to Raines and Ribault, negotiating to keep fees down for wrestling programs, giving money to Wolfson for kids to attend camps and donating a vehicle to Forrest.

"[The vehicle] had just been sitting around in the garage," Fairfax said. "I donated it to Forest because I really liked their coach [Tim Worsowicz] at the time and knew they needed a little help. …
