A WOMAN who scooped [pounds sterling]35 million on the lottery announced her fortunewith the understatement of the century, it was revealed today.

Single mother Angela Kelly, 40, told her 14-year-old son John to preparehimself for a shock after finding out she had hit the EuroMillions jackpota British record. She then said: "We've won a wee bit of money." Ms Kelly plansto quit her [pounds sterling]21,000- a-year job as an administrative assistant for Royal Mailshe can earn that sum each week in interest alone.

"It is so weird," she said, "really, really weird, because a [pounds sterling]21,000 salary isnot a bad wage. It is liveable. To know that I have that every week and loadsmoreI just cannot get my head around it all." But she said today she is staying inEast Kilbride, near Glasgow because John is taking exams at school there.

Ms Kelly only checked her ticket on Monday after Friday's draw. When sherealised what had happened she said: "I feel sick! I feel nauseous." She waspresented with the [pounds sterling]35,425,412 cheque today at a ceremony at Airth Castle, nearFalkirk.

She said: "I couldn't believe it when the numbers were there in a row.

The winning numbers kept on going and going." She asked her colleagues to checkthe numbers because she could not believe she might have won. "I couldn't evensay anything, I just pushed my chair back and put my head between my knees, Iwas so f labbergasted." She added: "I rang the National Lottery phone line butphoned the wrong number I was so nervous.

They said this is the gambling helpline& You need to call the other number onthe ticket.

"My son rang me at work shortly afterwards so I said: 'We've won a wee bit ofmoney', and then had to call him back later to tell him the big news when ithad calmed down a bit." Ms Kelly is planning a holiday in Hawaii because theSeventies police series Hawaii Five-O is her favourite show on the television. …
