Question: You missed a 43-yard field-goal attempt in the preseason opener at Miami. What happened?

We're gonna get into that? Aww, man, I just pushed the ball out right. It's something that I wish I could go back and do over again. Fortunately, it's the preseason, and stuff like that happens. I just pushed it right, that's all.

Q: You were recently married. How big of a hit to the wallet was that?

[Laughs] You know what? Between what the groom is supposed to pay for, as far as the honeymoon and all that, we kept it at a reasonable amount. We had a great time without spending a whole lot. I've heard of people spending $100,000 or $200,000 on a wedding. We spent probably a quarter of that, and we had an amazing time. We spent a week in Hawaii and had a great time. You can have great weddings and not spend a whole lot of money.

Q: What did you do on the honeymoon?

We stayed at the Turtle Bay Resort in Oahu and basically did nothing. That was the best thing: doing nothing. We relaxed, slept in. I played golf every day. Ahhh, it was just great.

Q: You're doing some different things with your kicking technique that involves undercutting the ball. Can you explain what that is?

Basically, what [special-teams coach] Joe DeCamillis is trying to teach me is to undercut the ball to get a whole lot more spin on it. He's saying that a ball that spins a whole lot more cuts through the wind and stays straighter. That's what he's trying to teach, to get up underneath the ball. Basically, I'm not hitting the ball as cleanly. It's almost like you're hitting it straight up in the air and letting the straight line take it. You're not trying to aim it anywhere. It takes a whole lot of length off your kicks. But the majority of your kicks in the NFL aren't coming from 50 yards. They're in between 32 and 42 yards. …
