Gangs Targeted in Dawn Raids; Police Swoop on Suspected Car Thieves

POLICE raids today targeted a gang of men suspected of breaking up stolen cars and selling the parts on eBay.

The early morning raids were carried out on addresses in Stockton, Norton and Dormanstown.

Officers also swooped on a lock-up unit at Warrenby - believed to be the nerve centre of the operation and where the cars are dismantled.

Within one hour and 30 minutes of the raids being launched, two arrests had been made - one at Dormanstown, the other at Warrenby.

At Warrenby, the small, unnamed lock-up - situated next to legitimate garage businesses - one arrest was made.

Another arrest was made at Dormanstown.

Inside the blue-doored lock-up at Warrenby, an Aladdin's cave of engine and car body parts could be found.

They included suspected stolen parts from a BMW Mini Cooper, BMW Z3 and a Volkswagen Passat.

It's believed those three cars alone will have been worth at least pounds 60,000. …
