THREE directors resigned from the Queens Park Rangers board today aheadof potential new investment in the club.

Renault Formula One team boss Flavio Briatore is expected to complete a[pounds sterling]22million takeover this week.

In a joint statement, outgoing board members Nick De Marco, James Ferrary andKevin Steele said: "We believe the new investment coming into the club will bethe most important for years. It will save QPR from a perilous financialsituation and should put the club in an excellent position to move forward."Despite the move, Gianni Paladini will stay on as chairman of the club.

Meanwhile, Rangers have made a poor start on the pitch. The 2-0 home defeat byCardiff has left them with one point from two games and they were turfed out ofthe Carling Cup by Leyton Orient.

Rangers manager John Gregory said: "We need to get some points pretty quickly.

We were second best all over the pitch." Charlton languish on the same pointstally as QPR after their 2-1 defeat at Stoke. …
