STEVE HARPER wants Newcastle United to keep up their unbeaten start to the Premiership campaign in style against Middlesbrough on Sunday - by bagging all three points at the Riverside.

The Toon keeper says United are looking for more of the same after their first road trip of the season to Bolton resulted in a 3-1 win over Sam Allardyce's old side.

And although the follow-up to their trip to the Reebok was last Saturday's 0-0 stalemate with Aston Villa, Harper feels that remaining unbeaten is crucial during the early stages of a long campaign and hopes that the feeling of invincibility is still with the Toon stars come Sunday night.

Boro will go into the game with a point to prove after a slow start to the season which started with a home defeat against Blackburn.

But they picked up with a late and controversial win at Fulham last week when Gareth Southgate's side were saved by a linesman's error when Northern Ireland hot-shot David Healy watched in agony as his header was chalked off despite being some distance over the line.

Harper told the Chronicle: "They won at Fulham so they will be full of confidence going back home.

"As they lost their last home game against Blackburn they will be up for it in front of their own fans.

"But we are unbeaten.

"It is still the start of the season and although Boro have started badly, we have started pretty well, so we are aiming to keep that up.

"It should be a cracker and we are looking to come away with all three points."

Harper is in line to start between the posts on Sunday with Shay Given (pictured right) still struggling with a groin injury.

The Easington-born stopper made 25 appearances last term and will add to his two so far this season on Teesside after several seasons of playing a back-up role to the Republic of Ireland international. …
