Sticking in There! Teen's Beating Path to Drumming Caree

A CURFEW on a young musician's drumming did little to deter his path to success.

Jordan Swain got his first drum kit six years ago and is now on his way to study at a specialist college in London.

The 18-year-old of Hinderwell, near Saltburn, said: "It all started when my parents got me a drumkit for Christmas. From then on we had to contend with neighbours' complaints.We even moved to a bigger house so I could practise the drums more often."

And to help keep the noise down, Jordan's drumming was given a 7pm curfew, when he had to stop playing.

"If I hadn't had the curfewIwould have tried to play 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Even after the curfew I'd still use the drumsticks to play on a practice pad," he added.

He entered a Young Drummer of the Year Awards in 2005, achieving a top 40 placing among 462 entrants.

Jordan currently plays with pub covers band The Pulse and rock band Dirtii Geztrz, who have toured. …
