Mum Tells of Ants Nightmare; Home Infested with Insects That Bite

A YOUNG mum from Stockton says she is being badly bitten in an ant infestation at her home.

For the past two summers, Terri Colligan's rented house in Coniscliffe Road, Hardwick, has been plagued with ants.

But the 21-year-old, who has a three-year-old son Martin MacLaren, claims the insects have now evolved.

"At first they were just little ants but now they are really big with white wings and they can fly," she said.

"They come out at night in the kitchen and if I come downstairs in the night I get bitten all over. It's like I have chicken pox.

"I had to lift the carpet out of the dining room because it was ruined. There's no point in getting a new one until the ants are gone."

The problem is heightened during warm weather, says Terri, when the kitchen and dining room are crawling with ants.

Terri says she has contacted Tristar Homes, which manages the property, on a few occasions but the company said that since an initial complaint, which they responded to, no further calls have been logged. …
