The Nassau County Retired Educators Association will have its first general meeting of 2007-08 Tuesday at Shoney's in Fernandina Beach.

Breakfast will begin at 9:30 a.m. and a short meeting will follow at 10.

All new retirees will be considered guests of the association, and their breakfast will be complimentary. All retired educators and support personnel who worked in Nassau and elsewhere are invited to attend.

LIFELONG LEARNING SETS FALL SCHEDULE FOR NEW CLASSES

Registration is open for fall classes offered by the Center for Lifelong Learning in Nassau, formerly known as the Nassau Institute for Community Education.

The fall term schedule is:

- "Leadership Matters," a seven-hour, one-day course on Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Fernandina Beach. Taught by Robert Bolan, the course is for officers, board members, staff and key volunteers of nonprofit organizations.

- "Image Editing for Digital Photographers," a six-week class taught by Bill Raser, beginning Oct. 2.1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Florida Community College Betty P. Cook Nassau Center.

- "Pride and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby," a seven-week class taught by Bernie McCabe beginning Wednesday, Oct. 3, 10 a.m. to noon at the Nassau Center.

- "Of Faith and Reason," Jerry Torchia will facilitate a seven-week discussion of a video series by Bill Moyers beginning Thursday, Oct. 4, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays at St. Peter's.

- "How to Use a Digital Camera," a three-week course taught by Raser beginning Tuesday, Oct. 23, 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Nassau Center.
