THEY'VE sweated, shouted, sworn and stamped their feet but the final of Hell's Kitchen was a big letdown.

Kind-hearted boxer Barry McGuigan is a lovely man but Emmerdale babe Adele Silva deserved to win.

Before entering Marco Pierre White's lair she barely knew how to boil an egg, yet she listened, learned and by the end of the show she could cook a five-star meal - all the while keeping her cool in the kitchen.

Poor Barry lost it at one point and looked like he was going to chin laid-back chef Tim. Sadly, his boxing gloves didn't come out of the cupboard. Shame. It would have been a good fight.

I was shocked Barry won, but I guess with his sporting achievements, the nation had already taken him to their hearts. Adele was just a busty brunette from a soap.

All the same, they should have been chosen on effort, not fame. Adele deserved to be crowned the winner.


The news this week has focused yet again on Kate and Gerry McCann and the suspected abduction of their daughter Madeleine.

And on TV this week there were two fictional stories about child abduction.

Torn is a new three-part drama on ITV.

It tells the story of Sarah and David, who experience every parent's worst nightmare when they their four-year-old daughter disappears from a crowded beach.

No trace is found of the little girl and police believe she has drowned.

That is until 11 years later, when mum Sarah is shopping and sees a group of teenage girls and knows instantly that one of the crowd is her missing daughter.

She follows the girl and later approaches her but she is arrested for harassment.

It's only thanks to a curious policewoman who decided to dig into the girl's past that they discover the teenage girl is in fact their daughter.

This was a gripping episode that showed the horror a family suffers when a child goes missing. …
