NEWCASTLE United can consider themselves unlucky that they had to take on Arsenal in fashion week in London.

For while Arsene Wenger's young gunners strutted along the Emirates catwalk, United looked as if they were decidedly last year's model.

They did parade their new cup-tie strip, but it looks like they can add this to last year's collection too. Sam Allardyce does not agree with me, but I always feel that when Wenger turns out his model up-and-coming youngsters and rests his top stars, it puts a lot of pressure on their opponents.

And I have to say that after United played on Sunday, last night was tailor-made for Arsenal.

Yes, Shay Given was in superb form in only his second appearance of the season.

He made some truly outstanding saves -but do we expect anything else from the Republic of Ireland keeper?

But what we could have expected was Obafemi Martins to have done better with what were three really good chances - two of them in the first half and the other within a minute after Given was finally beaten by a picture-book header from Nicklas Bendtner. …
