GATESHEAD manager Ian Bogie is looking for a positive response from his players after watching the Tynesiders lose for the first time in 20 games last week.

Defeat by Vauxhall Motors cost Gateshead their place in the next round of the FA Cup and today they return to UniBond League Premier Division action when Ilkeston Town visit the International Stadium.

"Quite frankly, we didn't deserve anything from last Saturday's match," said Bogie. "But let's not forget we've had a fantastic run stretching back to last season.

"This time, we have won seven and drawn one of our eight games and hopefully last week's result will be nothing more than a minor hiccup.

"I'm looking for a good performance this afternoon, especially as captain Steve Bowie and Steve Salvin were both able to train on Thursday night.

"In addition, Craig Baxter has now completed a suspension so I'll have a full-strength squad to choose from."

Newcastle Blue Star manager Tommy Cassidy will need to have a roll call before this afternoon's FA Trophy Preliminary Round tie at Woodley Sports. …
