Scorpions Stung by Two Late Goals

Article excerpt

Byline: Tony Hodgson

SEATON Burn Scorpions were left pointless and disappointed in their attempt to win their first game of the season against Ponteland United Madrid in the UNITED UNDER-10 LEAGUE.

The Scorpions took an early lead when Jack Gray scored his first goal of the season, but the advantage did not last long as Ponteland struck back through a well-taken goal from Alex Hodgson.

With the teams level at half-time there was everything to play for in the second period, and Chris Smith duly found the back of the net to put the Scorpions in the lead for the second time in the match.

On the scoresheet for Burnside were John Elsender and Jay Younger (3), the Reds scoring through Jack McAndrew(2) and Ross Saint.

KYPC Olympiakos lost their 100% record and their joint leaders position when they went down 5-1 to an invigorated Shanklea outfit.

Goals came from Luke Taylor (3) and Cameron Blacket (2) with a consolation from Alexander Dixon.

Elsewhere, there were victories for FC Cullercoats (11-3 over Burradon B) and Ponteland United Barcelona (16-0 against Seghill Juniors). …
