UNITED IN VICTORY; Villagers Make a Stand to Bring Cruel Thug to Justice

A VILLAGE has united in a stand against a thug who struck terror into the lives of its residents.

Paul Postgate, 45, right, was the scourge of Lingdale in East Cleveland.

But residents defied his threats and joined forces with the authorities to help bring him to justice.

Postgate, of Brookside, Boosbeck, has been slapped with a five-year Asbo which imposes strict limits on him going into Lingdale and its outskirts.

A court heard how Postgate's acts of barbarism and aggression included:

Throwing dogs into the road into the path of on-coming traffic;

Shouting at residents and waving his arms in a threatening manner;

Walking into the road into the path of vehicles amid worries he appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

A total of 20 incidents in the past six months, with a further 14 incidents prior to this period, were revealed to Guisborough magistrates in an application by Cleveland Police, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and the RSPCA. …
