BRUNSWICK - Terrence La- Shawn Felder got along well with co-workers and customers at Brunswick Landing Marina, where he did maintenance work on recreational boats.

"He was a pretty quiet guy. Very mild-mannered. Just a real nice kid," his boss and marina co-owner Bob Torras Jr. said.

The first inkling of possible trouble came last week when the recent Glynn Academy graduate was overheard at work arguing over the telephone with someone. Then Wednesday afternoon, Felder also was overheard talking on his cell phone apparently to the same person.

"He was supposed to meet him later that night to work it all out," Torras said.

Torras doesn't know if Felder kept that appointment. Nor does he know who Felder had argued with or what caused the apparent dispute.

Felder, 19, was found dead with a gunshot wound to head about 8 a.m. Thursday. He was lying face down beside Cochran Avenue near Seventh Street in Brunswick's Arco neighborhood.

"He was a sweet, fun-loving person and, as far as I know, everybody liked him," said his mother, Maggie Felder.

Her youngest son is the 14th homicide victim this year in Glynn County. Felder is the ninth victim slain in the unincorporated area of the county. Five people have been killed in the city.

Glynn County police were tracking down leads involving "several persons of interest," Capt. Marissa Tindale said.

However, no arrests had been reported Friday.

Felder, who planned to start training as a welder, had no enemies as far as his family knew.

"I tried to raise him right. If he was involved in anything, I didn't know about it. He didn't bring home from out there," his mother said.

Maggie Felder went to the scene when her son's body was discovered by an Arco resident taking her child to school.

Police are releasing little information about the slaying in an effort to avoid tainting the ongoing investigation. …
