Rugby Union: Blaydon Hoping for Better on Travels

BLAYDON are hoping to build on last week's victory by looking for their first National Two away success when they visit Cambridge.

The win against Redruth, however, was bitter-sweet as Cameron Johnston suffered a broken back - he is still recovering in hospital - and three other players were also injured.

However, secretary Jim Huxley believes the side can regroup and again show the qualities which helped keep Redruth scoreless.

"It was a brilliant effort because I believe we're the first team to keep the opposition to zero In this division so far this season," said Huxley. "The win was vital as other results went our way."

Redruth, meanwhile, have lost their appeal against a points deduction after an incident in their game against Cambridge which saw them not appear for the second half. This means they are propping up the table on zero points.

Tynedale are making up for last season's National Three North disappointment in style. …
