Anglers averaged four trout per visit with Shaun Smith taking the best catch with 17 trout to 8lb.The West Riding Fire Service booked the lake on Sunday and brought youngsters and disabled anglers, and everyone caught fish with the best catch at 14 trout.


Anglers averaged 2.3 fish per visit with J Jack taking the best rainbow at 5lb. Buzzers, Boobies and Nomads all took fish. Best venues were the Dam Wall and Hannah's Meadow. Fish were deeper a temperatures slipped and sinking lines then came into their own.

Best fly caught trout was a 7lb rainbow caught by T Dixon. Dave Mordue from Durham had four trout for 10lb 8oz, returning a further four trout, on Bloodworm. Les Downs returned a superb wild brown trout of 5lb. S Hodges took four good fish on worm for 12lb. A Garrett took an excellent blue of 7lb 8oz on the worm. There is plenty of surface activity most days, with Fry Imitations, Diawl Bach and Muddlers the top fly patterns. DERWENT RESERVOIR

328 anglers caught 701 trout, with S Matthews taking the trout of the week at 6lb. Top flies were Black Fritz, Black Pennell, Bibio and Kate McLaren. Top baits were cocktail of worm and powerbait with Greedy Bait in a feeder. Best fly areas were The Meadow and Henry's Plantation for the fly anglers. Bait rods did well at Hunter House and Pow Hill.


Fontburn is now closed for the season and the final figures are as follows: 8418 anglers caught 32,460 trout. Largest rainbow of the season was a 9lb 3oz rainbow and top blue weighed in at 7lb 4oz.


234 anglers took 703 trout, with K Greenwell taking the fish of the week at 4lb. Best flies were Yellow Dancer, Sunburst Blob and Orange Fritz. Best baits were worm and powerbait egg cocktail and Yellow or Orange Flying C's. The Boat ramp, Witches Hat and stream inlets all fished well.


Anglers averaged four fish per visit in a very good week. The big fish are stirring now with more hefty doubles likely to follow the beauties caught over the past few weeks. Best patterns this week were Bloodworm, either red or black, Dawson's Olive, Cats Whisker, Olive or White Zonker and Black and Green lures. Fish have been up and down in the water, with anglers requiring to search out the depths for the trout.


Kielder Water is now closed for the season and the final figures are as follows:. 4038 anglers caught 10,682 trout. Best trout was a goldie of 9lb 8oz and top brown was a 2lb 5oz fish.
