Disappointment at 'Our Gracie' concert

THERE WERE at least 1,000 disappointed people when free tickets for a concert in Middlesbrough Town Hall starring Gracie Fields were distributed. Only 400 double tickets were for issue to the public, but they were all gone by 9am leaving many disappointed fans. "Our Gracie" was appearing in BBC Radio's "Gracie's Working Party".

Good response for destitute Germans

MIDDLESBROUGH people were not slow to respond to an appeal in the Evening Gazette on behalf of destitute German working class families in the Ruhr. Mr Charles Porter made the appeal from the Civil Labour Office working in Germany and he said that he was overwhelmed by the generosity of Middlesbrough folk who had sent letters and parcels to his office.
