BRAVE Teesside couple Paul and Lisa Barnett today shared precious memories of their premature "little angel" - who was so tiny he could fit in the palm of a hand.

Baby Tico was born 23 weeks and two days prematurely at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

He was transferred to the hospital's neo-natal unit, but lost his fight for life.

Tragically, this was the second loss for the couple, of Convalescent Street, Saltburn, as they had previously lost a baby daughter Darcy - born too young to stand a chance of life at just 19 weeks.

Paul, 28, a deputy pub manager at Wheatlands Farm, Redcar and Lisa, 26, a personal banker at a major High Street bank, are so grateful for the efforts of the staff at the neo-natal unit, they are organising their own auction of prizes at the Redcar pub at 8.30pm on November 16.

T eessiders and firms are wading in with generous donations ranging from trips in fast rally cars to top class restaurant meals. All proceeds will go towards the neo-natal unit.

Ever more generous donations are arriving daily and anyone wanting to contribute can contact the Barnetts.

The young couple come from families with brothers and sisters with children and they felt it was natural to follow suit and have a family of their own.

But tragedy struck when their daughter Darcy was born aged 19 weeks on October 10 last year. …
