Article excerpt

COAST Soccer were knocked off top spot in the Under-Eight Datastor League by in-form New Fordley.

The first-half advantage went to New Fordley as they opened up a two-lead going into half-time with strikes from Nathan Ryder and Adam Corbett.

After the interval, Coast produced the better football and continued the hunt for the breakthrough they needed - but the New Fordley defence stood firm to gain the 2-0 win.

A Dean Kirkland strike earned Burnside Utd a 1-0 advantage at half-time against Seghill.

Seghill then netted three times in quick succession to race into a 3-1 lead courtesy of goals from Connor Myers, Lewis Bowmaker and Kieren Atkinson.

However, that was not the end of it as Burnside struck back through Jack Walby and Harry Railton to snatch a 3-3 draw.

KYPC took the lead when Greg Hankin was on target and they looked likely to hold on to all three points until FC Cullercoats bagged a late equaliser to share the points.

Luckless Seaton Burn went down 2-1 to neighbours Burradon.

On the scoresheet for Burn was Brendan Lovatt, while Burradon's marksman was Connor Little with a brace.

League leaders Forest Hall Reds dispatched Forest Hall Blues 9-0.

Second-placed KYPC Olympiakos's recent good run ended when they met Forest Hall Reds in the UNITED UNDER-10 LEAGUE.

Olympiakos tried to play their natural passing game but in the wet conditions found it heavy going.

Forest Hall Reds coped better and ran out the 4-3 winners.

Notching for the Reds were Scott Coates, Jack McAndrews and a Saint double.

In reply, Charlie Scott bagged a brace and Alexander Dickinson also found the net.

Ponteland United Madrid struck twice early in the first half, courtesy of James Charlton and Joseph McStravick, to settle their nerves against Cramlington Blue Star. …
