AVERAGED five fish per visit with Phil Coates catching 20 trout to 5lb and Tony Ward landed 17 trout to 5lb. Shaun Smith caught 15 fish to 5lb 8oz, B Stobbs from Consett bagged 12 fish while A Viney caught 10 fish. Gordon Potts took a tagged fish worth a bottle of whisky. Fly box: Copper Buzzers, Damsel Nymph and Montanas.

BLACKTON RESERVOIR

TROUT to 2lb 8oz were weighed in this week with Blind Beck and Hannah's Bay the best areas. Fly box: Black flies such as Fritz lures, Bibio and Black and Peacock Spiders all worked well. 1,703 anglers have fished Blackton this season catching 5,957. CAISTRON FISHERY 07944 178045/(01434) 609 725

TROUT have been chasing fry and have been close to the surface with floating lines best. Mr Taylor from Cramlington caught 11 trout, while Mr Watts took a 4lb rainbow on worm. Fly box: Dawson's Olive, Cats Whisker, Orange Fritz, Buzzers, Bloodworm and GRHE.

DERWENT RESERVOIR

191 anglers caught 281 trout with D Mills taking the fish of the week at 7lb. Worm is the most effective bait at present while large lures such as Dawson's Olive fished on intermediate lines have taken many fly-caught trout. Black Fritz has also been good. Pow Hill was the best bait venue, while fly anglers did well at the Meadow.

GRASSHOLME RESERVOIR

81 analers cauaht 194 trout to 3lb 8oz which was caught by J Forster, while B Greenwell caught 10 fish for his visit including eight rainbows and two blues. Fly box: Black Fritz, Zulu, White and Lime Green Fritz. Best baits: Spring Green Powerbait and worm cocktail. Also float-fished worm and waggler did well to reduce wind tow.

HIGHAM LAKES (01661) 860 032/07950 428159

BAIT anglers did well this week with three doubles caught on ledgered maggot. Consett angler John Mercer took the best fish at 14lb 7oz. The fly lakes provided good sport with sinking lines most effective as fish were deeper. Andrew Robinson of Ponteland returned 18 fish to 6lb for his visit using Orange Blobs and Bloodworm patterns. There will be a hog roast day on December 16 and interested anglers should contact the fishery for details. Fly box; Bloodworm, Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymph, Hare's Ear, Black Buzzer and Pink Zonker.

JUBILEE TROUT LAKES (01388) 772 611

ANGLERS averaged 3.6 trout per visit with mainly black patterns effective. Zonkers did well as did the Dawson's Olive and Olive Zonker. Trout were fairly deep, mainly due to the bright sunshine and cooler temperatures.

KIPLIN HALL (01677) 470 716

AVERAGED four trout per angler with Steve James from Darlington landing 13 trout to 5lb. John Gibson caught12 fish to 4lb. Top fish for the week was a 6lb rainbow - one of a 11-fish baa cauaht bv Ben Charnoch from Keswick. Fly box: GRHE, Damsel Nymph, Sugar Lump and Daddy Long Legs. …
