CHILDREN at St Peter's Day Centre and inset right the building work

THE St Peter's day centre for AIDS orphans at Mogidishane just outside Gaborone in Botswana is now up and running, thanks to generous donations from parishes in the diocese.

Father Andrew Muderei from St Peter's reports: "With the last donation of P119,227.62 in January 2007 from the Diocese of Newcastle, we were able to buy enough bricks and other building materials to finish all the walls of the Day Care Centre. We bought trusses and all the roofing sheets and other materials to roof the whole building, we wired the building for electrification and paid the connection fees to Botswana Power Corporation. This work was done and finished by the end of March 2007.

We were then left with plastering the walls, putting topping on the floors, tiling the floors, painting the walls, purchasing and hanging doors, putting the ceiling and glazing, putting locks. Much of the above work has been done thanks to Kabelano Trust, Hilda Butler and the African Women's League of Gaborone who together donated nearly P70. …
