A BASKETBALL player wanted in connection with the murder of Britishexchange student Meredith Kercher was today arrested in Germany.

Rudy Herman Guede, 20, was identified by police though his fingerprints, whichwere found on a pillow and on a piece of lavatory paper at Meredith's flat inPerugia, Italy.

Police said Guede, who has joint Italian and Ivory Coast nationality, was beingheld in the western German city of Mainz.

Today police in Perugia revealed Guede was caught after he logged on to theinternet to check his emails and an officer pretended to be his friend online.Giacinto Profazio, chief of Perugia flying squad, said: "We had known forseveral days he was in Germany. An officer pretended to be a friend of his andover time convinced him to come back to Italy.

"He was on a train heading to Italy and officers were positioned on the Italianborder to arrest him." He was stopped by a ticket inspector who found he had noticket. …
