I AN Moore is fast closing in on the 100 career goals mark - but admits he would happily swap personal glory for more victories with Hartlepool.

Moore upped his striking statistics to 99 goals with his seventh of the campaign in Pools' disappointing 1-1 home draw with Bournemouth on Sunday.

It was a smart volleyed finish too from Joel Porter's chip, cancelling out James Henry's rasping opener.

But the 31-year-old was as disappointed with the result against the lowly Cherries as he was happy with his predatory skills which salvaged a point as Pools stuttered.

"I would have definitely taken three points instead of scoring," Moore said.

"We were disappointed because you look at the game beforehand and it was one that we wanted to get three points from.

"We huffed and puffed a bit around their area. There were a lot of balls flying across the face of goal and the ball was bouncing around a lot but there were not many clear-cut chances. "Thaere were not too many gilt-edged chances and it's not really happening for us at the minute.

"But it's not a bad total for me so far, hopefully I can get more goals.

"I have not set myself any targets but at the start of the season I wanted to reach 100 goals.

"I'm on 99 now so I still want to reach 100 goals, then get to double figures for the season and then go from there.

"As soon as you start putting figures down you put pressure on yourself, these things have a habit of coming back and biting you on the backside.

"But I don't want to be stuck on 99 for very long, I think if we get a penalty I might grab it!"

Former pounds 1m man Moore, who counts Tranmere, Nottingham Forest and Leeds among his former clubs, has been playing on the right wing rather than up front in recent weeks.

He is the first to confess that it is not his preferred position, but the Birkenhead-born forward just wants to help Pools get back on track after some indifferent form. …
