GIFT SETS UP ENDOWMENT TO HELP COGGIN STUDENTS

A $350,000 gift from the Cascone Family Foundation to the University of North Florida will be matched with $175,000 in state funds to set up an endowment to help UNF business and language students study abroad.

About 200 students in the Coggin College of Business as well as about 100 students in the World Languages program studied abroad this year, in countries including China, Germany, France, Russia and Morocco.

The family foundation is led by Michael Cascone, a Southside resident, who is the retired chairman of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. Two of Cascone's children graduated from UNF, including one who participated in a month-long study-abroad program in Strasbourg, France.
