CLEADON SC won a fivegoal thriller when they took on Harton and Westoe in the South Tyneside derby at Jack Clark Park.

Derek Newton gave them an early lead with a clinical finish, but within five minutes Harton were ahead.

Andrew Cain levelled, beating the Cleadon goalkeeper with a good finish, and Anthony Cook found the net two minutes later with a chip.

Cleadon rallied and restored parity on the half-hour with the best goal of the five.

Following a corner, Philip Shakespeare found the target with a tremendous scissors kick which left the Harton goalkeeper stranded.

And before the interval Nick Quinn completed the scoring with a volley.

Five goals were scored in 20 minutes, but none followed as Cleadon held on to their narrow lead during the second period.

Hartlepool took on Jarrow for the fourth time this season with Pool having home advantage this time.

However, it was the visitors who scored first as Craig Armstrong pounced. …
