IN his letter (Her Pyramid Selling Point Lost On Me, 14.12.07) Jim Higgins suggests I look at Eston Precinct in the Teesville ward which I represent, and infers people would rather see something achieved with this than have works of art around the borough.

Mr Higgins should look much closer to home to discover why Eston Precinct is still undeveloped.

His wife, Cllr Mrs Ann Higgins, was a member of the Coalition from 2003-2005 when Aldi pulled out of the development.

However, I can tell him that, after a considerable amount of hard work, we expect plans to be submitted for this development within weeks.

As far as the work of art at Guisborough is concerned, Mr Higgins has obviously not seen it as it is not made of tin, nor is it in the middle of a roundabout. It is pierced steel representing the contours of the Cleveland Hills - very fitting for its location in Guisborough, adjacent to Belmont House with internal lighting designed to reflect in the glass structure of that building. …
