A GRANDAD has criticised police after they shot him with a taser gun.

Trevor Dial, 60, says he was told by police he was the "first person in Dunston to be tasered" when he was arrested for a public order offence.

But now he is considering taking legal action as he claims the officers' reaction of shocking him three times with 50,000 volts was "over the top" as he had only just arrived at the scene to pick up his three sons.

"Next thing a police woman grabs my arm and about five others bundled me into a fence and smashed my glasses. Next thing sparks are flying and I was in agony. I've got 14 red marks.

"They kept telling me to relax, but it was a bit difficult.

They said I was the first person to be tasered in Dunston.

"I'd only come to pick up my sons and stop them getting in trouble. Now I've ended up being treated like the criminal.

"The only other time I've been in trouble was my 18th birthday over 40 years ago when I was done for being drunk and disorderly. …
