Ice Hockey: Warriors Eager to Step Up Double Title Challenge

WHITLEY Warriors are back in Northern League action this weekend after maintaining their four-point lead in the ENL North.

And they will be looking to take points off Solway Sharks and Paisley Pirates to keep up their title challenge on two fronts.

However, they will have a smaller squad at their disposal this weekend as the Under-18 squad (Blackhawks) also have two matches.

Rob Wilson (suspended), Bryan Dunn (injured) and Dale Howey (work) all miss this evening's game, and only the latter will be available for the visit of Paisley tomorrow.

"We are going with enough players to have three forward lines at least," said player/coach Karl Culley.

"Andrew Robinson has returned to training from injury this week and will make the bench to bolster the defence, providing he doesn't have a reaction to Thursday night.

"It isn't ideal against a side that are better at home than on the road," added Culley, "but providing we do all the right things this time, we are still capable of getting a good result. …
